CNN has the story about Nick Hartigan, a Brown University running back, who is also in the process of interviewing for a Rhodes Scholarship.
He going to fly to Pittsburgh for his interview, fly back to New York for his football game against Columbia University and that afternoon, fly back to Pittsburgh for the second phase of interviews. It’s that kind of dedication that separates winners from losers. I hope this guy gets the chance he wants.
Of course, shooting for the NFL is probably a little more profitable…

I’ve found a strange little quotation blog that dates as far back as January 2000. It’s simple, with no explanation, additional commentary, advertisement or even decoration. Just a date and a quote or two. If the dates are to be believed, it goes back five years.
Quōt.org has a distinctly different collection than ours with many that wouldn’t be allowed in our collection because they are too long or contain offensive language. It’s an interesting addition to the family of quotation websites available.

Peter F. Drucker, known as the “father of modern management,” died Friday at the age of 95. He’s the author of a number of books including “The Effective Executive,” and also the author of some of my favorite quotations.
To learn more about Peter Drucker, see Wikipedia’s biography of Drucker, read more Peter Drucker quotations, or visit the nonprofit foundation he started, the Leader to Leader Institute. A printed compilation of his writings, The Essential Drucker, is also available.

Fall had a slow start this year in Salt Lake City, Utah, but it is raging right now. The days have been fluctuating between sunny and overcast, but in both cases the air has been crisp and chilly. I always feel a little betrayed by Autumn. I feel like it should be spring all year ’round and these seasons just get in the way sometimes.
I can’t deny the beauty of the turning leaves, though. I have been wandering around the neighborhood just enjoying the crunch of leaves under my feet. Walking in the area has been nicer now that the heat has subsided. I just need to remember to bring a jacket now. I wonder what it would be like to live in an area of perpetual Spring. Would it feel like time had stopped or would I just notice the more subtle changes in my environment?
Here’s what the masters have to say:
